Jon Clarke's Reef Aquarium
A list of the fish living (and deceased) in my aquarium ...

Chevron Tang. Liked scraping algae from the live rock and glass, and enjoyed the dried algae stuff that comes in sheets whose name I can't recall. Also ate plankton, brine shrimp, and just about everything else I chucked in ! Although Tangs are supposed to be more prone to disease, this guy never got sick whilst I had him (or her).

Purple Tang. Ate the same kind of food as the chevron tang. Both tangs in fact had nice rounded stomachs, suggesting that they were getting their fill. Also never got sick in my tank. One of my favourite fish.

Coral Beauty. Had this guy for 18 months before he mysteriously died, with no sign of any disease. Even after hauling the live rock out of the tank I never found the body. Something ate it, but never owned up to the fact.

Dragon Goby. Bought this fish to keep the sand clean. Well someone has to do the vacuuming.

Flame Angel. One of my all time favourites. Quite easy to look after, very striking in appearance. Paid occasional visits to the cleaner shrimp for some first class grooming and parasite removal. Ate anything but was more timid than the other fish.

Royal Gramma ("Narky" my wife called him, on account of his aggressive displays whenever anything went near his patch). I've never seen something so small stuff so much food into its mouth with such eagerness. Apart from my 3 year old daughter with a packet of chocolate buttons.

Maroon Clowns. Had a male and female. What an aggressive fish she was. Never bothered the other fish so much but attacked my arm on many occasions and once drew blood. She also didn't like my algae scraper on account of it being fish shaped and similar to her in colour. After 18 months they started breeding and I was all set to give the eggs to Chester Zoo for rearing, but soon after I had to sell the aquarium. What a pity. She also took a few bites of the bubble anemone when it was added to the tank. I actually witnessed this !

Percula Clowns. My first two fish. These died quite soon after I got them with what looked like badly bitten fins. I suspected the mantis or pistol shrimp.
