Jon Clarke's Reef Aquarium
A site dedicated to my hobby of reef keeping.

Having kept tropical freshwater fish for many years as a teenager, the keeping of a reef aquarium was a very appealing prospect.
So in June 1998 I bought a Percula 90 aqaurium. Expensive for its size (3 feet long - about 60 gallons) but looks quite smart, which was a requirement for it being placed in the living room.
So after setting everything up and once the water was in
a fit state, I could start buying the contents (and I thought the mortgage was a lot !). In went my fish, invertebrates and corals - not all at once I might add. The aquarium then looked something like this (sorry about the chair in the way !) ... |

So after a couple of years and lots of tender loving care, heaving buckets of water around, and much viewing pleasure, the aquarium looked like this ... |

But then the children arrived, and my wife stopped work, so I had to sell the lot ! Its a great but expensive hobby. But fear not - it will be back, bigger and better, some day ... Oh, I had a blasted pistol or mantis shrimp in this tank that I never found, despite using all manner of traps, bait, CO2 etc etc etc
